Fiscal Restraint/Role Of Government

Fiscal Restraint/Role Of Government

Fiscal Restraint/Role Of Government

The government is only able to help society when it fulfills its constitutionally mandated role. The government doesn't produce anything, it primarily redistributes wealth from one group to another. The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, rather than ensuring equal outcomes. Furthermore, maintaining a 100% open, transparent, and accountable government is vital in a free society.

2nd Amendment

Fiscal Restraint/Role Of Government

Neil passionately defends 2nd amendment rights, 'The right to keep and bear arms' as a crucial safeguard. It serves as the last line of defense against tyrannical governments. I urge everyone to safely exercise their 2nd amendment rights because an armed society is a polite society. As Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia wisely noted, "People look at rights as if they were muscles - the more you exercise them, the better they get." When seconds count, remember that the police are often minutes away. Cases like Warren v. District of Columbia (1981) highlight that the court ruled police do not have a specific duty to protect individuals from harm. Similarly, in DeShaney v. Winnebago County (1989), the U.S. Supreme Court found that the state does not have an obligation to protect individuals from private actors. The ruling in Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005) further demonstrated that police were not liable for failing to enforce a restraining order that led to a tragedy.

Fiscal Restraint/Role Of Government

Pro-Life, Pro-Family

Human life begins at conception, and the core unit that determines the strength of any society is the family. Therefore, the government should foster and protect its integrity.

Property Taxes

Property Taxes

Pro-Life, Pro-Family

Property taxes should be based on a acquisition value, a hybrid system or not exist on single family homes. Our current assessed value system has no major advantage for long term home ownership. Local assessors shouldn't estimate your home value each year, which currently the assessed value is likely higher than you can sell your home for on the market. Leaving you paying taxes on gains you may never realize. Ideally, having only property taxes on commercial, office, retail and rental buildings ect would be a better solution and than having taxes on residential single family homes. Currently, once you own your property outright by paying off your mortgage, you still don't technically own it because the government could jack up property taxes so high it makes it unaffordable to remain.

Energy/Economy

Energy/Economy

Wyoming is abundant in natural resources, and Neil advocates for an energy policy approach WITHOUT SUBSIDIES. The current intermittent non-base load power sources like solar and windmills would have never been economically viable without subsidies. Free market capitalism where the government sets a level playing field and gets out of the way is the goal. Our current corporate welfare socialistic system where the government is picking winners and losers and distorting the free market is wrong. This system is profits for the insiders, risk and losses for the taxpayers.

Public Safety

Non-English speaking truck drivers who cannot meet safety and communication standards are a serious public safety risk and it is unfair to truckers who earned their Commercial Drivers License(CDL) the proper way. Stronger enforcement is needed to protect the profession and keep our roads safe.
